Johannesburg - Forget about satellite systems, alarms, gearlocks or even flames to keep car hijackers at bay... Snakes are your best bet. Not those rubber toy snakes that some motorists have on the back window, but the real McCoy. This is the view of Abel Sithole of Motle in North West. Sithole, who works at a garage in Pretoria, has a hobby, which could become very lucrative in the near future. On weekends he hunts for cobras, pythons and puff-adders. Then he sells them to motorists who are looking for alternative alarm systems. Puff-adders and cobras are sold for R150 each and pythons for R600, depending on their length. Asked if it's not a tad dangerous to drive around with one of those deadly reptiles in your car, Sithole nodded in agreement, but says "the motorists are scared, but the snakes protect the cars and that's more important."
